Did You Know? Ghosts

According to the website, "Haunted Places," the Kennedy Brothers Memorial Apartments, which are fairly close to the Sergio Troncoso Library, are haunted. The apartments were allegedly built on top of a former graveyard. They are also located across from Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The spooky happenings have been seen by multiple people, as you can see and read more here.

The library also has an excellent selection of books written by indigenous people. Ask a librarian to read one today!

Did You Know? Mushroom Month

Mushroom growers, image from Wikimedia Commons

Did you know that August is Mushroom Month? Even though the month is half-way done, there's no reason not to still celebrate! Mushrooms are used in many different recipes and each kind of mushroom has its own flavor.

This librarian's favorite mushrooms is the Oyster mushroom! It's a tasty variety that is even grown around El Paso! It's really easy to cook, too. My favorite recipe involves frying them in oil with just a little salt and pepper. Perfect!
